Our Parson Russell Terrier


This page is for my favourite photos of Squid the dog, our pet Parson Russell Terrier. If you are not familiar with this breed of dog, then they are a lot like Jack Russell Terriers, but a bit bigger, their legs in particular are much longer than those on a standard Jack Russell Terrier breed dog.

Squid the dog has had an interesting past, rescued from a very nasty dog breeder when he was one and was about to be put down, by shotgun!!! :( He then had a very loving home with a very nice lady, but she sadly died when he was six, so then he came to live with us. Squid is now seven and has settled into our family very nicely.

The name Squid for a Parson Russell Terrier dog? When we adopted him into our family his name was actually Sid, but my partner and I like more original names for our pets! We did considered changing it completely to something like Crumble. As he was already six and very used to his doggy name Sid, I came up with the idea of Squid, which was much easier for him to adapt to! We do get funny looks when shouting Squid to get our dog back at the park, but we like that! It could have been worse, we could have called him Shark, just imagine yelling for him to come back when on the beach! lol

Like most standard Jack Russell Terriers our pet Parson Russell Terrier is full over energy, loves to run and is a very playful dog.

Squid the dog at Battle Abbey, dogs must be kept on a lead there, he was only taken off for the photo and he is very well trained.
