Catsfield Boat Race July 2018
These photos are of the rowers in the Catsfield Boat Race, ok when I say rowers I actually mean runners as the Catsfield Boat Race goes nowhere near any water! lol It's a 1066 metre (The village is only a couple of miles from the location of the Battle of Hastings back in the year 1066) road race where you run around as a team inside a home made boat, but like something out of the Flintstones the boats have no bottoms so the leg are sticking out to run. Some boats are very imaginative, others not so much, but it can't be easy designing something for a team of four people to carry while running, weight of the boat is obviously a very important factor. It's a fun event in it's third year and it raises lots of much needed money for charities. Although the 2/3 of a mile course isn't that far and it is a fun run! (Strange concept to me! lol) people do get very competitive and you can even bet on the races (all profits going to charity of course!). It's events like this that really capture the spirit of fun in a very English country village type way.
