Hastings photographs:Cold afternoon on Hastings seafront
Black and white edited photos from January 2019
These photos were all taken on a short walk along Hastings seafront on a very cold January afternoon at the start of 2019. It’s a place a have done a LOT of photography over the years, this time the main thing that was attracting me were the beams of light coming through the clouds. I would have had a walk around Hastings pier, but at the time it was shut for repairs after a small fire, something a lot of locals don’t seem happy about, but I think it’s better to have a fireproof pier than risk it burning down properly like it did a few years ago. I walked towards Hastings Old Town and into the fishing fleet area where boats from the largest beach-launched fishing fleet in Britain are launched every day to supply delicious fresh fish to locals and beyond. It’s a fascinating area to walk around, especially to take photos. I have literally hundreds of photos of the fishing boats and beach, one day I will finish sorting them and get around to adding all the best ones to this site, so please keep coming back.
I edited these photographs using a custom filter effect I made for Perfectly Clear, which I use as part of Paintshop Pro 2018. The filter that turns them into black and white, well Tricolour photos to be precise, I just think it works very nicely with photos like this. All these Hastings seafront photos were taken by Dean Thorpe on the 2nd of January 2019 using a Canon 70d DLSR and a Tamron 18-270mm lens.
