Hastings Pirate Day, free annual event in East Sussex Photos from 2014
Black and white photos from the Guinness World Record holding town
Every year in Hastings, East Sussex they have a Pirate Day event! Hastings has a long history of pirates, smugglers and lots of other dodgy characters, I even lived there myself for a while and felt I fitted in with the locals! lol It is a huge tradition in Hastings now and one of the biggest events in the town each year, a town very well known for hosting big events like this.
Hastings Pirate Day is a free event, yep free! Of course you can buy lots of stuff, have a glass or two of rum if you would like, but all of the main event is totally free to watch and even take part in. You do not have to dress up as a pirate, but it’s so much more fun if you do.
Hastings currently holds the world record for the most people in one place dressed as pirates, a mere 14,231 of them and I am proud to say that I was there and one of those counted that day. Most of the fun stuff goes on around Hastings Old Town, along the seafront and in George Street (or Diagon Alley as my partner Helen calls it), but there are often bits in the town centre too.
I really hope you enjoy the photos of this great event, I thought the black and white really suited that years pictures. If you have a look around this site you will find photos from other years as well. Feel free to share the page or use the photos, my only condition is that you don’t make profit from them (I don’t either!)
