Hastings Cat Lovers Christmas Fair

On the 1st of December 2019 HCL / Hastings Cat Lovers had their Christmas Fair, this event was a great success and raised hundreds of pounds for this amazing local charity. We had great stalls, games, raffle, fancy dress, competitions, tombola, gifts, cakes, tarot and most importantly Santa Claus.

This is how Hastings Car Lovers describe themselves: "HCL are a proactive Group rescuing unwanted & abandoned cats & kittens in the Hastings area, fostering them to a select group of foster carers & rehoming them to loving homes"

I have been friends with Ni-cola for a few years now, she and Iona are the main people behind Hastings Cat Lovers. They spend most of their time rescuing cats and taking care of the many cats that they have already taking in, but have not rehomed yet. They are both very lovely crazy cat ladies!

The Deputy Mayor of Hastings James Bacon popped in for a while and took part in many of the activities that were going on

please Think before buying a cat

Please, please, please, If you want a cat then please always rehome a rescue if you can instead of buying one from a shop or from a back street seller that only encourages the mass breeding of cats when there are already so many out there desperate for homes.

Buying a cat or kitten is a BIG commitment, they can live up to TWENTY years, so imagine buying a kitten for a ten year olds Christmas present, that cat may still be alive and could be requiring expensive vet treatments when that “child” is thirty years old!!!

Once you get a cat you adopt it as part of your family and that cat adopts you too, it’s not something to give away when you are bored of it! Cats might poo / pee on your floor, scratch your furniture, they might scratch you, need to go to the vets, could have kittens if not neutered, those are all no reason to get rid of them, it’s what they do, it’s what you accepted when you decided to take that cat into its new home.
