About Eastbourne Pride
2018 was the first and second year for this event! Confused? In 2017 people got together to help organise Eastbourne’s first ever Gay Pride event, there had been small events in the past in pubs etc. but never a full on Pride event. Sadly the powers that be (Eastbourne Council) decided that the world would end if they allowed such an event, so instead they were told (so I have been told!) that they could hold the first ever Eastbourne Mardi Gras. This was a full on Pride style event, complete with a parade, lots of flags for every part of the LGBT spectrum, lots of people in fabulous and flamboyant costumes, LGBT support groups and basically everything you expect at a Pride event. As that event was a great success they did get permission for the first ever official Eastbourne Pride to be held on the 21st of July 2018 and these are the photos from that day. Also on this site you will find the photos from the amazing 2017 Mardi Gras event too.
Pride is an event that we should have no need for, in fact it should never have been needed in the first place . . . in an ideal world. This is not an ideal world! Pride is still about fighting for acceptance and equality for everybody, no matter their gender or sexuality. I consider myself as a Genderfluid Pansexual, something that is explained in detail in other parts of this web site, so no point going over it here, but it does mean I consider myself part of the whole LGBT rainbow! I used to be a regular at Brighton Pride, but it has changed over the years, in my opinion it’s lost direction (sorry) and become yet another big name festival, that just happens to be on the same weekend that Brighton Pride used to be on, long gone are the days where the motto was “Pride not profit”, so these days I only go to the Hastings and Eastbourne pride events. I make absolutely no profit from these photographs and was at Eastbourne Pride 2018 to have an amazing time and as a freelance photographer, not in any official capacity. I will almost definitely be at Eastbourne Pride 2019, not sure what fabulous outfit I will be wearing yet, we will have to wait and see.

About these photographs
You DO have permission to share links to these pages on social media, you also have full permission to download photos of yourself if you were there and use those photos as profile pictures, print them out or do anything else you want with them. Any of these photos can also be used for any non profit, non hate purposes by anybody. The only people who may use these photographs for any profit making purposes are the events organisers and any stall holders at the event.
You DO NOT have permission to use these photos to “out” people, their sexuality is exactly that: their sexuality! Some people have family or friends who are anti LGBT, so they might find it easier or safer not to tell people. Some people just don’t tell anybody because it’s not anybody else's business!
I always feel I sadly still have to say this:
Any person in these photographs was in Princes Park on the same day (21st of July 2018) that Eastbourne Pride 2018 was taking place. They may be LGBT, a friend or family member of somebody LGBT, a supporter of the LGBT, somebody there just for the free event, someone on the seafront who heard the music and walked in, somebody just out for a walk in the park, somebody lost etc. It does not say anything about their gender or sexuality!!!
